LANDFALL : 2025

“LANDFALL” was first published in January 2025. It appeared on the heels of my first zine, “I hope I am someone else when I wake up,” published just two months prior. In many ways, “LANDFALL” is a conceptual and aesthetic reaction to “I hope”. This zine is composed primarily of black and white photographs; there’s no collage in sight, and the only color appears in the final pages of the zine. The writing is more sparse, minimal, and to the point; even how it’s presented is utilitarian: black pen on white copy paper. Some of the themes explored in “I hope,” carry over into “LANDFALL”, most notably themes of romantic desire, secrecy, mental illness, and the natural world. However, while this work is bare and blunt in its communication, that same barrenness refuses to give answers or anymore clarity than what has already been expressed. In this way, “LANDFALL” is as elusive and unyielding in clarity as its predecessor.
